What is pilates?

Joseph Pilates invented the method that he defined as "contrology." He created multiple pieces of pilates equipment, including the reformer, trapeze table, chair, and barrels as well as the mat repertoire. At Vitae Pilates you will be trained on various pieces of pilates equipment to give you a full pilates experience.

Celebrities and athletes across the country have found pilates to meet their rehab and fitness needs and once you try pilates you will see why!

Pilates is for anyone from 9 to 99 years and is great for people with various body needs. Whether your goal is to get back in shape, complement your current exercise program, or ease the symptoms of a specific condition, I will help to develop a program that is right for you.

With consistent pilates practice, people are able to work toward their fitness or daily activity goals by strengthening their core, improving posture, and increasing flexibility. Many people find relief of injuries, assistance with special conditions, and overall better health and wellness through pilates.

I began taking pilates in 2009 on a regular basis because I was limited in exercise options; I had knee pain and swelling from running for many years and chronic shoulder/back pain from weight lifting. As a result of pilates, my knee and back pain went away, my core grew stronger, and I felt overall more fit than I ever had with running and weight lifting. Pilates was also a great way to stay in shape in both my pregnancies and regain my strength afterwards.

I opened Vitae Pilates in June of 2013 and have enjoyed working with clients of various ages and fitness levels. Outside of teaching pilates, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters.

Certification: completed the Balanced Body Comprehensive Training Program (488 hours) in August of 2012, which included training on the mat, reformer, cadillac /trapeze table, chair, and barrels
